Community Organizing Fellowship

  • Digital Outreach Track (one opening)

    • Lead efforts to recruit new ambassadors to join Slow Fashion USA 

    • Develop recruitment strategies and outreach plans to attract volunteers and develop a ladder of engagement

    • Assist in reviewing applications and conducting interviews for potential ambassadors

    • Build and maintain a strong community of ambassadors through effective communication through Slack updates and meetings 

    • Facilitate discussions and activities to foster collaboration and networking among ambassadors 

    • Manage the Slack workspace and respond to Instagram DM’s from interested followers

  • Digital Trainer Track (two openings)

    • Co-create engaging and interactive training materials and resources on slow fashion 

    • Co-create and facilitate training sessions on topics related to slow fashion, sustainability, and climate action

    • Compile and organize resources and information on slow fashion, sustainability, and environmental advocacy for our website 

    • Create comprehensive resource guides to support ambassador training and outreach efforts.

    • Continuously update and expand the resource library with new content and resources

  • Policy & Legislation Track (two openings)

    • Support policy work related to fashion legislation and advocacy efforts

    • Stay up to date with relevant policies and regulations impacting the fashion industry

    • Forge partnerships and collaborate with policymakers, NGOs, and advocacy groups to advance policy objectives and amplify advocacy efforts and build coalitions

    • Represent Slow Fashion USA in meetings, conferences, and advocacy events to promote our policy objectives

    • Utilize various communication channels, including social media, petitions, and grassroots organizing, to advocate for policy change

What To Expect: 

  • A 3-5 hour commitment a week for either three or six months 

  • Monthly fellowship meetings via Google Meets to discuss projects, timelines, and slow fashion 

  • 1:1 mentorship and support from team leads and long-standing ambassadors 

  • Monthly SFUSA meetings in your respective team 

  • Communication from Slack, group chats, and global SFM Whatsapp group

Requirements: 

  • Must be comfortable working remotely and independently 

  • Proficient in Google Workspace: Meets, Calendar and Docs

  • Experience working with Canva is a plus, but not required

Program Description 

You can choose either a Track A (6-month commitment) or Track B (3-month commitment) fellowship, unpaid and fully remote open to all US residents.

Time Investment: 3-5 hours/week

Fellowship Timeline:

  • Applications open since April 10th, 2024

  • Applications Deadline: May 1st, interviews will be ongoing 

  • Program Start Date: May 20th, 2024

  • End Date of Track A Fellowship- October 21st, 2024

  • End Date of Track B Fellowship- July 22nd, 2024
